UberX is applying car year limits: What dates will I expect my vehicle to expire?

Current UberX drivers who use a 2004 and prior vehicle to perform ridesharing services have up until January 31, 2015 before their vehicle is deactivated on the platform. Furthermore, 2005 and 2006 year vehicles also have an expiration date. Ridesharing drivers who fail to update their vehicles won't be able to drive unless they make the required replacement to accommodate these changes.

Referred to as a transition schedule, Uber posted set dates to prepare current UberX Partners. Don't wait until the last minute to update vehicles, because this delay may ground you for the time being.

On the following dates, vehicle years 2004 and before, 2005, and 2006 will be ineligible to use on UberX:

  • 2004 and before vehicles will expire on January 31, 2015
  • 2005 vehicles will expire on January 31, 2016
  • 2006 vehicles will expire on January 31, 2017

If you own 2007 and after vehicles, the future yearly schedule will make these obsolete on the UberX platform. No vehicles older than 10+ year will be allowed on UberX starting on February 1, 2015 and so on. Watch this schedule to see what date your vehicle will expire on the platform.

Keep in mind that Uber has special financing available to accommodate current Partners. Your best mode of option is to save up and make a good investment in a newer vehicle.

Keep ridesharing on the top rideshare platform. Uber is taking big strides to remain a leader in ridesharing services with their UberX ride platform.

Happy Ridesharing!
