Lyft ride that got Lyft driver terminated


A female Dutch student took a Lyft ride on December 13, 2013. When she was picked up downtown, this girl offered to navigate the Lyft driver to her destination. The Lyft driver attempted to input the cross streets into his mobile GPS, but the spelling of the two cross streets were turning up an error. The rider wanted to go home since she was tired and obviously intoxicated. The driver continued to drive along one of the major downtown streets going West. 

This female rider didn't recognize the best way to get to her destination. She kept saying to go down one street when you couldn't travel down it; these one-way streets. The Lyft driver pulled over to input her destination. As the Lyft driver drove to the destination, there were many one-way streets going in the opposite direction. This rider seemed to get agitated with the ride, as the cost exceeded her budget. The driver drove 1.7 miles, which the rider claimed she only lived 1 mile away and didn't want to walk in heels. Just because a location is 1 mile doesn't suggest the location is that far away in driving distance. The female rider didn't know exactly how to reach her home. 

If the female rider would have allowed the Lyft driver to input the address correctly, both parties would have faired well. However, this female rider decided to rate the driver less than a 5 star, probably much lower than a 4 star. Due to her long comment complaining about a few dollars, the Lyft driver got terminated a few days later. This rating brought his rating down from 4.82 to 4.79. The minimum rating allowed to drive at Lyft is 4.80. Does this female rider know that she could have reduced the amount to $7-8 to accommodate her budget instead of reporting this $10 fare? Probably not because she was under the influence and didn't understand what her complaint could do to another individual. 

Thank you Dutch girl. Because you complained about a $10 fare, you ruined a person's life. This former Lyft driver depended on this driving job to survive. Your comment and low rating resulted in him getting terminated right before Christmas. Hopefully, you had a nice Christmas because you ruined this individual's year. As hard as he worked and all the arrangements he made to work Lyft every weekend, you ruined this complaining about $10. He would have gladly given the $10 to avoid leaving this comment and rating him low. 

Just know that you adversely ruined this person's life. He can't afford to pay his bills and will sink further into debt. He wishes that he would have not picked you up that Friday the 13th night. He got terminated from your rating and comment. If you don't have anything positive to write, you shouldn't write anything at all. If you think beginning your comment with the driver being nice and a good driver is good and then going into the directions not being that good, think twice that you trying to save a few dollars cost a person thousands of dollars per week. The person could have repaired their hardship with this job. You ruined this effort to write this comment. Directions and navigation are a huge part of Lyft. All Lyft needed was your comment and direction issue to terminate the driver. Thank you for running a life. 

Good luck with studying in San Francisco and with your future. May another person along your journey not fail because you feel compelled to complain about a few dollars.

“Well, is really nice and a very good driver but the directions weren't that good. I was going from downtown to the corner of McAllister and Leavenworth which is really short and not more than approw. 1 mile why the route that ended me costing $ 10 was really annoying.”
